The map for the article shows the winds coming from the Northwest, crossing over the Iraq Marshes and the 2000 BC age probably meteor strike and than continuing to sample site. The timing is right for this to have caused the severe weather results. The Akkadians were not the only civilization in the middle east to go bust around 2000 bc.
