Thanks O, but if that's what the article were saying, it wouldn't have "Neanderthal extinction" in the headline and "modern humans were able to wipe out Neanderthals in Europe and Asia" in the article body.

Columbus is “blamed” for the supposed death of millions of Indians because he brought diseases to them, so “they” stopped celebrating his achievements.

I wish people would learn to read between the lines.

I think my late husband had the red hair and light blue eyes and a number of other Neanderthal-like traits. He also was really into sex and women found him attractive.

I tried to post this a decade ago. JimRob said no because "it's racist". Anyway, he lets me link it.

I decided to take a look at your long link The Neanderthal Theory. I skimmed it but plan to go back a read more carefully. I also plan to send it to my children and grandchildren. My 4 grandchildren have all been treated chemically with some sort of medicine for ADHD type symptoms and one son was severely dyslexic. My father was Aspergery and OCD. My mother’s side of the family had several members with severe winter depression symptoms and my other son has that. 5,000 IU of Vitamin D seems to be a big help. He also had 6 wisdom teath, Esquimo characteristic. My husband had many Neanderthal traits, and I have shoveling of my 2 lateral upper incisors and very large molars. My husband was very big and strong, and I am small and was unusually strong for my size. One of these days I am going to get everyone tested to see how much Neanderthal we have.

I happy to see your interest in that article.

I take 10, 000 IU of Vitamin D ever since I posted this article 13 years ago : The Antibiotic Vitamin

Now, if you take high doses of vitamin D, you should be taking vitamin K also. I'm uncertain about how much vitamin K but, I take 100 MCG daily.

Vitamin D And K2 Work In Tandem To Slow Arterial Calcification

I've said for my 20 years on FR that "we are all Neanderthal" and DNA studies have shown that to be correct for everyone in the world except Africans.

BTW, The VA (Veterans Administration) doctors had me on 50,000 IU of vitamin D daily at one point.

I heard a report that of our 20,000 or so genes, Vitamin D has an effect on about 2,000 of those genes. I have just recently started adding 100 mcg of K2 to our daily supplement packets. At 81, I don’t seem to have any heart issues, but my guy at 74 has had episodes of tachycardia in the past. None for the past several years with tweaks to his packets. But we ran out of several important items a few weeks ago. Then he went for 3 days not taking his packets. Then spent all of 1 day resting because he felt an episode about to start. We finally got the missing supplements and after 3 days taking the renewed packets, he has no symptoms.

"At 81, I don’t seem to have any heart issues..."

Good for you. Neither do I at 76.

I had two brothers, one older, one younger die of heart issues both at age 52. My dad died of heart problems at 75.

To have a long life, it is really important to deal with your physical and emotional issues. My father died age 90. His father died age 98, and his cheerful good-natured sister died at 103. I am trying to model her. My grandfather when I asked him what he felt was important said, “long walks and plenty of water.” He also had quit eating white bread in the 1930s.

When I started studying nutrition I was able to interest my father. He followed my recommendations and completely eliminated his annual spring allergy season. When he had prostate cancer in his mid 80s, he finally quite smoking. He also had treatment by Dr. Atkins. However, despite my urging he never made any effort to deal with his anger and high blood pressure issues, nor did he follow my urging to lay out his weekly supplements all at once. I even gave him little baggies for all his supplements and two big baggies marked AM and PM to put the little baggies into. I guess his OCD made him happy to lay out his morning supplements each morning and his evening supplements each evening. One Friday (age 89) he was standing in a long line in Jersey City with groceries to carry with him to Atlantic City as he tried to collect rent from a deadbeat. I’m sure he was very angry. He had a stroke, was hospitalized, but his housemate could not bring him vitamin packets because there were none. I got there 4 days later started him on his supplements again, but he died after 3 weeks.

Sounds like your granddad was quite a guy.

I was surprised how many of my 'doses' I was missing. It became apparent when I started using the weekly/daily pill boxes.
Every Sunday afternoon the pill boxes for the coming week are filled.(I still already missed one AM dose this week)

Nothing gets in the way of my daily walk in the woods with my dogs.

Anyway, we've really drifted off subject on this Neanderthal article.
