“Maybe folks aren’t eating enough fat?”

To be consistent with current studies, humans should consume around 20% of their diet in fats. The rest is 65% carbs and 15% protein. The body runs on crabs. The only time fats come in is for energy bursts is when the body can not cover the need.

Good fats can include Avocados, Cheese, Dark Chocolate, whole eggs. Fatty Fish, Nuts.....all commonly consumed foods.

The basic problem with weight gain around healthy people is that they basically use less calories than they consume.

Instead of worrying about what you are eating, here’s a way to stay healthy if your body functions normally:

The Harris Benedict Formula

To determine your total daily calorie needs, multiply your BMR by the appropriate activity factor, as follows:
• If you are sedentary (little or no exercise) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.2
• If you are lightly active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.375
• If you are moderately active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.55
• If you are very active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days a week) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.725
• If you are extra active (very hard exercise/sports & physical job or 2x training) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.9

BMR Formula (Imperial)

Women: BMR = 655 + (4.35 x weight in pounds) + (4.7 x height in inches) - (4.7 x age in years)

Men: BMR = 66 + (6.23 x weight in pounds) + (12.7 x height in inches) - (6.8 x age in years)

Total Calorie Needs Example

Once you know the number of calories needed to maintain your weight, you can easily calculate the number of calories you need to eat in order to lose weight by subtracting no more than 500 from your answer in daily intake.

This may seem like a lot of work, but this is the equation most of the diets use for controlled weight loss and it will change each time you step on the scale. My suggestion is to set up an excel equation to accomplish it faster and easier.

Good luck

The livestrong.com headline reads "Foods That Have Ketones" and then the article proceeds to say "Foods do not contain ketones."

The everlasting clash of headlines written by someone who confuses those who read the article.

Headlines that are Bait and Switch lead me to not rely on the accuracy of the source. It is used by too many conservative websites these days. Breitbart is notorious for it, along with its tradition of typos that are never corrected.

Sure. And in 6 months there will be a “study” that says the opposite.

Alzheimer's cures are tracking like cancer cures.
There is an ongoing barrage of alleged cures that don't work out.

There are many forms of cancer and no cures, just treatments.
One form of Alzheimer's, and no cures or successful treatments yet. -Tom

What if you have no gall bladder? Your liver dumps gall straight into the small intestine.

I had mine removed ten years ago due to it being gangrenous. I had very greasy poop after that, but someone on FR suggested eating Kellog's All-Bran Buds. (Yes, I hate Kellog's but the stuff is a one of a kind cereal.) About 2/3 cup each day and I have had no problems.

It will give you huge stools, but not greasy at all.

My doc was very happy with all the numbers on my last physical tests. Of course, I do a lot of things like walk a lot (30-60 minute fast pace) and I stopped sugar based soft drinks. I now drink water, sometimes with about 1/5 orange juice added.
