The primary cause of homelessness is bad life choices.
Most of the causes of homelessness are within a person’s ability to have controlled them. A few of the causes are due to external events outside of their control.
By and large almost every person is the one that makes the vast majority of significant decisions that gets them to where they are.
Absolutely. Aside from a sudden MAJOR unforeseeable event, unpreparedness will put you out on the street faster than anything. And, practically all the examples given ARE NOT unforeseeable events. Just look at all the people living beyond their means from paycheck to paycheck with no savings and insufficient health insurance. They already have one foot out the door and then wonder how it could happen to them.
I agree as I have seen this play out at least three times around me. Getting involved with the wrong person, having children with them out of wedlock, not raising your kids correctly, etc... all bad choices come back to bite you.
The primary cause of homelessness is bad life choices.
Nope.
#1 is craziness.
Like marrying the wrong woman who then divorces you and sucks your assets dry and you wind up sleeping in your car.
I would say that is the secondary.
The tertiary is not taking care of people who can not, not will not but can not, care for themselves.
The primary is the government attempting to keep people homeless by making it easier for them to be homeless. The government also removes the cheapest and easiest housing solutions by declaring them "sub standard".
It was not that long ago that ten or fifteen people might live together in a old multi bedroom house. The owner charged a small rent for a semi-private room and the borders got two meals a day included.
The government shut down these boarding houses by passing ordinances that no more then four people not related by blood or marriage could live together in the same house.
So renting out rooms when things got tight became illegal and not only the would be borders no longer had any place to live but without the income the owners were forced to sell.
Homelessness is not that easy to pigeonhole. It can happen to hard-working, sober people. I have seen it several times.
People who are nice usually have someone to turn to... a parent, sister, brother, co-worker, friend... most of the 'homeless' burned their bridges with their support networks when they 'married' the state for food stamps, disability, food banks, shelters, and non-profits trying to keep their numbers up.
Then there's the mentally ill that liberals wanted to set free... and their lives are hell... the drug addicted and the alcoholics round out the bottom...
Normal people who 'lost their home' are the smallest percentage. But they're the people the corrupt press writes about because 'the lie' supports liberal insanity on the issue.
My sister decided to stop working one day. She managed to get SSI and moved into a friends house and pays $300 a month rent. Squanders the rest, some $400+ on cigarettes and alcohol for herself and food for wild animals. She has not bought any new clothes in years.
If not for her friend and myself she would be on the street.
The primary cause of homelessness is Big Government.
Property Taxes is a major cause. That makes people uncomfortable. The bigger the Govt, the more homeless.
The purpose of property taxes is to make you homeless, it is to drain your home asset for the royalty of firemen and other state workers.
Welfare Taxes cause women to be homeless. They wake up one day, no more child support, and never owned a thing.
Inflation Tax compounding annually 3% results as one founding father said you will wake up one day homeless.
The cause of homelessness is the shift away from owners to renters of the land and property. On feudal lands, many become homeless. Untaxed property is the root of survival.
