That’s odd. Where I live people add a sign, “Free” to whatever item they leave out at the side of the road, in front of the house where one would put their trash cans. And why would someone leave something for free, in front of their vehicles, right next to the garage where it’s hard to see from the street? like in these videos?

These people were obviously thieves, plain and simple.

Years ago I had an expensive road bike that a kid tried to steal. I was chasing him down the sidewalk as he slowly gained distance from me when a motorist who saw me giving chase, cut him off at the end of the block. I caught up to him and yanked him off the bike while a store owner across the street called the cops. I held him down till they arrived and put him in the squad car. I filed a report and never heard a thing about it.....

Lesson learned: beat the crap out of him the next time and let him crawl home on his own since the cops won't do anything.

So yes, I approve what this couple were doing........

“Why would the homeowners do this?”

Because they wanted to post videos

Here, wannabee disposees typically put a sign on unwanted possessions.

Usually utilizing a flap from a cardboard box with “FREE” scrawled on it that can be see by passing vehicles.

And at the road/sidewalk edge of the property...

I loved the vid about the guy who put a tazer in the bicycle seat. He would let the bike thieves get about 20 feet away and then zap them! It was out a few years ago. Awesome!

That sounds Awesome! Are these videos still available? What happened to the guy? Did he get in trouble?

Honor them, not arrest them.

If they didn’t want their stuff stolen, then don’t leave it out in the front yard. Entrapment. And assault. These homeowners are idiots.

A friend of mine complains bitterly about the state in which he lives changing the threshold for a felony from $500.00 to $1,000.00.

He said it encourages crime, and that crimes like shoplifting would increase dramatically.

Events seem to indicate he is correct. Just like New York letting people out on no bail seems to have increased crime, and California no longer prosecuting defecation in the streets or prostitution, this is how you turn your community into sh*t.

On the good side, if they get to where they don't prosecute people, then beating the sh*t out of criminals is a very good idea.

What is it called when people leave their property unattended with the intent of assaulting would-be thieves?

A highly entertaining hobby that, if widely practiced, would cut down on theft drastically.

He had these outrageous videos. He would dress up like an Arab and walk up to people and throw a backpack at their feet yelling bomb. And people would scatter. He would throw the backpack in people’s cars and the people would JUMP out the windows. Every so often, people would beat the hell out of him, backpack be damned.
With the Tazer in the bicycle seat, he would leave the bike sitting under a tree and people would walk up and steal the bike, mostly blacks. He would let them get about 20 feet and, ‘zap’ down they would go on the ground and he would walk up and get his bike back.
Outrageous!

This is what happens when the police fail to do their job.
We need/will see more of this as police fail in their most basic duties.

“You make it a habit of routinely beating up people so you can YouTube it?”
Maybe if the police did THEIR JOB people would not have to do this.
Call the police about a stolen bike in my town and they will laugh at you and tell you not to waste their time.
These people were only targeted(by the police) because they had a dollar for the police/courts to steal.

“Young have been indoctrinated that criminals are victims.”

The young people are empathizing with the beaten criminals because most of them have probably swiped an Amazon package or two themselves.

Did you read the article? They routinely did this. On purpose.

So what? Is there some law in CA that says if you store your bicycles on your own private property, that makes them free for the taking? What about putting them in your back yard? What's the difference?

It's called protecting your personal property while it's being stored on your own private property. The instant the "would-be thieves" set foot on the homeowners private property with the intent to steal, they just became thieves.
