Light weight predators like to keep prey down sized because they dont want to get hurt. The more of them (pack) the bolder. The hungrier the (bolder). If a lot of pain is involved, like clawed up eyes? It get dicier. Plus cats are just full of sharp edges. Cats aint easy prey. I have great horned owls around and my cats. Owls havent been a problem. Miss the kill shot, cat got bird stew.
I should have added that they dont wander around until they get around 4 to 5 pounds. Then they pretty much do what they want.
