Curious if this will effect her reelection. A Republican should be in this seat. She ought to resign and devote time to getting sober.

Addiction is a demon and hard to overcome. Admitting you have a problem is the first step in a long hard fought battle.
Let her do it on her own time. A little fun fact about Congress going WAY back... alcoholism has been rampant in both parties. The Dem Speaker of the House back in the 1970s, Carl Albert, used to pass out drunk in the stairwell of the gov’t office buildings. What’s more remarkable is that he managed to live to be almost 92.

AA has a very low success rate but can be effective for those who need to lean on something. Many people just decide to quit and that's it. Done. It's different for everyone.

The alcoholics I have known who admitted it, admitted it many times....and kept on drinking.
I wish them luck, but after decades of dealing with an alcoholic mother, an alcoholic brother, and an alcoholic sister in law that’s it for me.
I know it sounds cold to some of you, but I refuse to deal with that sh*t anymore. Drink, get sober, fall off a cliff, whatever. But not where it has anything to do with my life.
Knowing drunks, this woman didn’t get drunk and fall down. She’s drunk and incompetent most of the time and should not be allowed to pass laws regulating my life. She should be kicked out of congress. Any other job where a person’s substance abuse interferes with their ability to perform their job would get fired. But not a member of congress. Because even falling down drunk they are better than we are. Right?
I really do understand what you are saying and since you have dealt with this first hand with more than one person, I can understand where you are coming from.
