Very true! The only reason I was able to get a lawyer for mine was because she was a family friend. Labor lawyers don't often represent plaintiffs. The big money is working for corps. Some of the very large and powerful corps put most local areas law firms on retainer so they can't (or won't) work for plaintiffs.
I learned a bunch during by situation. Opened my eyes. Folks, I know this may not be a particularly popular view on this site... but we are ruled by corps. They can get away with pretty much anything including murder. If you are in the elite you are untouchable. The only reason I won is because I also have some connections... and because they went way beyond the pale. I used to be a die hard libertarian until I found out that it doesn't really work for the non elite. You will be crushed if you cross a corp unless you have something really powerful in your back pocket.
“... but we are ruled by corps. “
There is some truth to this perspective, only insofar as the federal and state governments decide not otherwise. As I have had to go up against a few, with my current issue “in process”. You’ve got to know what you are doing, be able to do it, keep your emotions in check and you have to know their achilles heal.
On the other hand, most corporations are small operations, so many have limited control reach.
