The party split into two factions...Those that agreed with Lenin who wanted a wholesale revolution and rule by force by him, on behalf of the proletariat...the Bolshieviks ..and those who wanted to bring about Marxism more slowly with a step-by-step approach...the Menshieviks.
The Democrat party of today is going through the very same split.
FWIW, there’s no split. But if looks like there’s one then the ‘Rats might scare off fewer voters.
