Hmmm... I guess my military service as a radar technician at a Northern Ontario radar station in the late 60s-early 70s,
maintaining the equipment and watching for missiles coming over the pole aimed at the US, counts for nothing?

I understand that there are problems and improvements that can be made, but best to beware of painting with too wide a brush.

The DEW Line was paid for with American dollars. The Avro Arrow was the last hurrah for the Canadian defense industry and they couldn’t pull it off. Canucks now extol the wonders of their sniper teams, as if that constitutes a serious contribution to the defense of a nation larger than the United States. I’ve been waiting for the Canucks in Canuckistan to do the right thing politically since, like, forever. But they always choose to be more like Meheeco than the good ol’ US of A. Why is that?

Sadly, Harper - demonized as a “far right” conservative - in reality falls in the same ideological spectrum as Susan Collins. True conservatism does not exist in any organized form in Canada. The parties are all varying shades of socialism, and the Conservative Party is conservative in name only. Yes, it’s a better alternative than the 3 leftist parties, but when it’s in power it merely slows down the pace of government interference and social engineering.
