Our church ladies collect plastic bags and crochet them into blankets for the homeless.
The argument that the plastic doesn’t break down is bull.
Fifteen years ago, these same morons passed a law requiring starch to be an ingredient in all single use plastic bags. The starch would break down and the bags would disintegrate. (look at the bags hanging on hooks in your garage, they are falling apart because bacteria eat the starch).
These plastic single use bags ARE Environmentally Friendly.
The only thing that is unfriendly are the tyrants in Albany and other liberal state capitols.
How people in some states can get screwed by the democrats going and coming but still vote the dems into office is beyond me.
My first thought. Everyone with cats uses those for cleaning the litter box ; )
Exactly right! They are getting what they keep on voting for.....in the end their cities will be like San Fransico and have a real good start aready!
ROTFLOL....how are they going to pick up their animals poop!
Conservative NYers get the govt the LIEberals voted for. There are conservatives in NY but the leftist drecks outnumber them.
There was a thread last night about dramatic satellite footage showing a sharp decline in pollution over China. I didnt click on it, but it seems like the libs are getting what they want with corona. Be happy, whackos!
Go and buy a ton of groceries, refuse the bag fee and tell them you need help getting your (loose) groceries to the car. (Local stores in my area always offer to have someone carry your purchases to the car for you)
The piggies who do litter will find something else to throw out the window or toss garbage on the ground. NY has many 3rd Worlders and they litter like back in the old country.
The food/clothing/etc place where I volunteer welcomes plastic bags. The bags are reused in the pantry loaded with food for our clients. Some of the clients return the bags which get a third use.
Smug SOBs are’t ya? :)
You say “NY voted for this” like NY is a single person who cast their vote.
Lots of things wrong with this state but it DOES GIVE more to the fed than it gets to support a lot of redneck states that many people here live in :)
Stop mooching!! :)

THIS is why I hate Liberals! What they do now is move to other states and start it all over again.
The clowns that run CT instituted this in August.
More than once Ive driven half way to store only to turn around and go home because I left the reusable bags in the other car.
So I burn more fossil fuel that way !
LOL
This is just the start.
Here they’ve banned plastic straws (ban to take effect end of this year).
They also are about to ban plastic eating utensils and single serve plastic food containers. Styrofoam clamshells are also going.
So when people say how are you going to buy food at the market, they’re telling you that you will bring in your own containers and then the merchants will have to scoop things like meat etc. into your container. Or maybe they’ll bring back that pink butcher paper (showing my age).
So basically you are talking about us instituting things like China’s wet markets. Wonderful, just wonderful.
There are some huge hygiene reasons why plastic packaging is used for food.
For us, it’s absolutely absurd. All the plastic waste now is sent to a garbage to energy plant where it is burned in a very hot fire to make electricity. So other than the crap strewn about by the “homeless,” plastic is not an issue as a practical matter.
STFU subjects of TOTALITARIANS.
Vote for Democrats, Win Stupid Prizes.
“Happy to see big business figured a way around this nonsense.”
I don’t think big business is “figuring a way around” anything! 70 years ago? Maybe. Today? No way. Today “big business” is right there in bed with our socialist masters. Refer to “Atlas Shrugged” for further clarification.
So what happens to all the paper bags used 1 time?
A much bigger waste problem.
