When it appears you are not, they will back down.
I just had a flood on my property from a driver crashing into a fire hydrant. His insurance company offered $9K for damages.
Before I was done they ‘settled’ for $29K

I do repairable cars, one thing I have learned with insurance companies, they want to deal with the shop, not the owner of the car.
I finely gave in and brought it to a buddies shop who deals with “Jake” and getting paid..
they are fighting with him too. But eventually I’ll get a check for the right amount.
Since I do a ton of F150s I have all the parts to put it back together in stock already. Just waiting for everything to be settled (and buy the buddy his case of beer for dealing with them) to get it fixed.
