There are large homes in Cairo, Illinois for that kind of money. But you might not like the neighborhood or the neighbors. My wife’s wealthy ex father-in-law died with a large home in Cairo. His heirs couldn’t sell it, so gave it away to a charity, which no doubt still owns it.
I recall driving thru Cairo 45+ years ago, and thinking, I would not want to get a flat tire in this place.
