I would imagine that viewership will be exponentially higher because everyone will be home in front of TV. This will help the NCAA. Wont help hotels and restaurants.
14,000 died from swine flu - which impacted children more than adults.
Zero events were canceled. Obama-Biden were never criticized. This flu impacts elderly (not kids) and its being weaponized to destroy Trumps economy.
Another hidden bonus of the fake crisis: Ticket sales mean nothing. TV revenues mean everything. Duh! F- the professional sports cabal. Sports should be for the enjoyment of cheap, middle-class consumers like me who enjoy sports on TV and prefer not to fight crowds and over-priced parking.
This will help the NCAA, particularly with funding of indoctrination professors and staff. This will NOT help private business, including hotels and ancillary businesses for fans.
In short, the private businesses are getting the shaft, while the Deep State still gets 90% of their normal take. Big win for the communist Democrats.
Might as well play games in HS gyms and save money
unless some fore-thinking lawyer anticipated something like this and left open the option of renegotiating with broadcast partners —who will all benefit to 1 degree or another.
more PC stupidity, imho. Can’t wait until the WuFlu begins to wane in a couple of weeks.
Cowardice and panic on parade from ‘educators.’
A horrific virus has landed into the hands (as a crisis) of those who want to remove POTUS Trump and move along Globalism. They very well may succeed.
I wish I was a basketball player, they are apparently immune to the corona virus. They have to keep the citizenry occupied so they don't notice the blatant corruption that's rampant in all levels of government and Big Business.
It's been done before.
These people are SO F’d UP.
Today I had an appointment to see my Sloan Kettering oncologist in NYC. (I’m doing fine, thank you.) Normally I take the bus and a subway, but my wife wanted me to drive in, so I did. She also wanted me to discuss my planned trip to Kentucky the first weekend in April. The doctor laughed when I told him I was sort of ordered to drive in myself, and wished me a pleasant trip to Kentucky.

Actually, they will probably lose viewers. One of the things that makes College Basketball great is the enthusiasm of the fans in attendance. E.g. I went down to Duke last year to see UVa play against Duke (and paid dearly for the tickets). I never would have gone if the Duke kids weren't permitted to attend.

“The flip side is that advertising rates on TV may go through the roof over this.”
If everyone is forced to stay home, what’s there to advertise ?
They BETTER NOT cancel the European Soccer Championship (EURO 2020). I've already got tickets to both semi-final games in London, and I'm in the market for a ticket to the Final. And since I'll be there I also have a ticket for the opening Round of the British Open.

As a UNC fan, the only good thing about this is that the Dukies won’t have their any of their crazies nearby when they try to win it all.
Am really sorry about this otherwise.
Even though I don’t like either one of them, I hope N C State beats Duke tomorrow...LOL
Oh, SO DO I! That would be so rich!
Lord, I’d love to see Carolina go all the way through the ACC tourney....THAT would be something else...
Yes it would and I think they can do it. They have gotten much better as the season has gone on.
