The remainder of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo was canceled Wednesday as officials in both Houston and Harris County declare a health emergency.
According to an alert from the Houston Rodeo app, the grounds at NRG Park will be closed as of 4 p.m.
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said the new presumptive positive case of coronavirus that was reported Tuesday in Montgomery County was not related to international travel, and there was evidence of community spread in that case. That is what led to the decision to cancel the Rodeo, Turner said.

Canceling events sucks, but minimizing spread of this thing will avoid exponential growth. If we wether the storm for a few weeks, it could fade away by late spring.

Turner and that child County Judge need to be strung up by the heels!! The financial reprecussions from this will be felt for years to come........poor kids wanting to show their animals hoping for the jackpot.....traveling cowboys and cowgirls for the big check......vendors who were expecting a big pay day.....security officers hoping for an extra paycheck. Hotels bursting at the seams, restaurants filled to capacity just everyday run of the mill commerce but these snakes probably doing the bidding of the left make these decisions behind closed doors.......I hope all involved go broke and end up on the street!! Pray for our President. The evil ones will do whatever it takes along with this cabal of liars, frauds and totally disgusting media types who want this President to fail miserably.....the Deep State will still be in power when all is said in done if this manages to destroy this administration. The American Quarter Horse Association has cancelled it’s yearly convention due to start Friday. It is the largest horse association in the world. This is a big deal in the horse world.
Yes, people who haven’t lived in the Houston area probably can’t appreciate how big a deal the rodeo is. This is a huge hit to the Houston economy.
