Statement from Assistant Attorney General Commending House Judiciary Committee’s Work to Clarify Criminalization of Female Genital Mutilation

Assistant Attorney General Stephen E. Boyd issued the following statement:

“Female genital mutilation (FGM) is a form of gender-based violence and child abuse that harms victims not only when they are girls, suffering the immediate trauma of the act, but also throughout their lives as women, when it often results in a range of physical and psychological harms. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that half a million women and girls in the United States have already suffered FGM or are at risk for being subjected to FGM in the future.

“The Department of Justice condemns this practice and urges Congress to act on legislation that will clarify the Department’s ability to prosecute such offenses.

“In April 2019, the Solicitor General of the United States sent a letter to Congressional leadership urging Congress to amend Section 116(a) of Title 18 of the United States Code to clarify the constitutional basis for criminalization of FGM to ensure that such violations can be prosecuted in federal courts. We commend the House Judiciary Committee for its work on legislation which will ensure that federal FGM prosecutions may be brought.”

Amazing that mutilation of any kind is still legal.

It should be illegal in every state, but it should not be the federal government addressing it.

For those that don’t understand this is just one of the many evils of Islam

One of the main purposes of Islam is the codify misogyny ,complete and utter misogyny were women have no rights whatsoever

In Islam you’re allowed to have up to four yes for wives

And to try to enslaved women for their female genital mutilation involving of cutting off the clitoris is so women have no pleasure in sex and just become objects for the man to abuse

That may explain the reason why OAC is going thru so many ‘husbands’ ...

OAC? I think that should be AOC (Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez) but she is not Muslim.

That would be Ilhan Omar, who’s second husband is rumored to be her brother, and who I believe is now shacking up with a boyfriend, not a husband.

Very un-Muslim like. Why if Omar was back in Somalia, she would be on-deck for the afternoon stoning.

“urging Congress to amend Section 116(a) of Title 18 of the United States Code to ensure that such violations can be prosecuted in federal courts”

I wonder if any of these people have actually thought about the consequences of such legislation. All it is going to take is one lawsuit to establish that this law being applied to only one sex violates the Equal Protection clause and the Civil Rights Act, and then you have a crisis on your hands, since male circumcision would become illegal as well.
