I was being sarcastic.

Russian numbers are likely as truthful as chicom numbers.

If it’s spreading in Manila, there goes the hope that the warming weather will kill it in North America and/or Europe.

veryone knows the virus doesn’t replicate over 85F.

The insanity is driving me insane. There are 53 cases in a nation of 104,000,000. They currently have ONE patient in serious care with TWO deaths. You really proved your point.

Yeah, tomorrow they might have 54 cases. If the cases spike it is due to more testing. The number that counts is they have currently only patient in serious care.

The Philippines has, as of March 12,2020, 52 COVID-19 cases. Most of them in Metro Manila.

2 deaths, 2 recoveries, 48 cases still active.

This brings the total cases per million population to 0.5 ( the Philippines has about 110 million inhabitants ). This is 10 times less than the USA.

So they’re quarantining Manilla to ‘get Trump’?

Do they normally do that for the flu?

Or common colds?

No, they are doing it out of pure stupidity in my opinion and an over-hyped media. The flu and/or car crashes will kill a hundred times more people today in the Philippines.

Unlike you, they can process the concept of exponents.

How many cases did Italy have 2 weeks ago?

How many cases do they have today?

How many of those cases require ICU or critical care?

How many ICU/critical care beds do they have (not enough)

How many die because of insufficient medical care? (lots)

Philippines has watched what happened in northern Italy and said ‘nuh uh, not here!’ and acted accordingly.

How many of those 48 cases still active are in critical care or ICU?

Just asking, I haven’t seen that number.

How many ICU/critical care beds does Manila have, realistically...?

If you see everyone around you doing something, people are going to demand you do the same. You don’t want to be that one who didn’t do something and pay the price.

That’s true enough.

There’s no reason that Filipino people would necessarily be immune to this thing.

I’m still wondering how many of those 48 cases they’ve got have progressed to the point they need an ICU bed.

Even IF it’s only Chinese immigrants/workers who get this thing (I don’t believe that FWIW) and get critically ill, you’re going to have a crash out of critical care in Manila. And Filipinos won’t have critical care available if they need it.

I don’t believe it’s just chinese that get this BTW, plenty of the pictures from the Italian ICU are younger white people (pasty pinky white and no wrinkles, age spots or gray chest hair)

YOu don’t want to be the government, at this point, who sees what’s going on in other countries WRT critical care beds/ICU beds and fails to take action.

I’m willing to bet the public health system in Manila is probably not on the same level as that in Milan. At best they would be equal.

With this disease it isn’t ‘how many people get it’ that’s the question. It’s ‘how many need an ICU bed to recover’.

That number seems to be much greater than for the flu or any other coronavirus excepting SARS and MERS.
