Really? I don’t know whether to call that #WayToCat or #EpicCatFail.

FR does support a wide range of opinions and viewpoints which makes it a great place to debate and enjoy our freedom of speech.
God Bless you too and I hope you and your family stay safe.

“Imagine being the type of person that sees a crisis and their plan is to exploit people for money during those times, and then to have other people support them?”

The Left has been talking down the economy in hopes of political advantage for three years and now jump on Covid-19 ... yet the same often glossed over H1N1.

To observe that they employ rhetoric to exploit people’s fears for political power is not ignoring what is happening in the world.

We have the “FluBro’s” who are in total denial of what is happening world-wide.

“”””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””

You left out one category FR also has.

Those, like the left, that grotesquely exaggerate and twist what others say to fit their own narrative.

Like you.

I find the completely divergent points of view fascinating but understandable due to the uncertainty of current events. Free speech in action can be messy and can be tiresome. They are all just opinions for now. Who is right has yet to be determined.

Be careful but be reasonable. With the democrat wish along with the MSM to destroy the Trump economy it is reasonable to assume this is being blown way out of proportion. They have even managed to contain Trump’s best weapon.. THE TRUMP RALLY.

I have noticed some of these comments and I am at odds with some of the things I am seeing on fr like you..the government’s main (should be only) purpose is to protect it’s citizens against dangers that individuals cannot. It looks like that is what they are trying to do based on the information they have...better to be safe than sorry..yes media is blowing things out of proportion but commmon sense shows people still are not taking this seriously. Hopefully these actions will shorten the damage to economy people etc

..Over 80,000 Americans Died of Flu in 2018... 90 percent of those deaths were in people over age 65 (https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/01/health/flu-deaths-vaccine.html) A four-week stretch saw the flu kill older Americans at a rate of 169 people a day, or seven people per hour. (https://www.aarp.org/health/conditions-treatments/info-2018/older-flu-deaths-rising.html)

If this stat is accurate, how many of those who have died from COVID-19 would have died in the past month if they had contracted this year’s seasonal flu? We have never shut down our economy for any reason before.

We are in uncharted waters. No one's opinion has either been shown to be right or wrong, yet. But what we are seeing is unprecedented. I'm not put off by the extreme views of either side- the shut it all down opinion, or the ignore it and live your life opinion.

My only conclusion thus far is that whatever happens, the people who have advocated the near total shut down will claim they did the right thing. No matter what the final outcome, they will claim it would have been much worse, there is no evidence that will confirm or deny it.

As an aside, the only helpful aspect of this so far is that it shows what the left would prefer this world to look like in order to fight climate change. Is this how we would want to live full time? I don't think so.

I’m shocked at my friends traveling for fun. ...It’s been the weirdest few weeks of my life.

I too am shocked at the number of people who are supposed to be working from home but are grabbing cheap flights to fly around the country and party. When they return home they'll spread it to their friends and colleagues.

What are these people thinking? What are Freepers thinking who say it's okay to lie to your employer and not work from home?

I really kind of thought we were all kind-of like minded (ya, I know, conservatives).

This site would be worthless if what you expected was true.

If were just another echo chamber I would not waste a second coming here. I know what my thoughts and beliefs are but I could be wrong. Having opposing views is what keeps me on the straight and narrow.

If someone chooses not to believe that the virus is real or not will be something that time will demonstrate if they were right or wrong. That is their business.

I turned in my “conservative” card a long time ago. Too many “conservatives” were telling what I had to believe to be true conservative so I left them in the echo chamber and searched for a place I could hear different views on many subjects.

This place is as much a school as a forum. I know I’ve learned a lot.

I guess you can chalk some of that up to that.

Fear is non-partisan. You really don’t know who’s in the foxhole with you until the shooting starts.

So there’s that.

Making jokes is how people often deal with crises. It doesn’t mean they aren’t treating it seriously.

That is the exact same defense my GF says I'm using. Yes, I joke about it a lot, yes, I've posted some pretty funny memes (most of which I've made) about it and yes, I say some pretty outrageous things about it, that does not mean however I'm not being reasonable and practical in my approach to dealing with it.

Personally, I think so much of the hype is so far over-blown you can literally see the panic in people's faces in the grocery stores.

The lying liberal media and the democrats who are obviously looking to make political hay over all this should be ashamed of themselves.

They won't be, because they have no shame, but they should.

In closing, IMO the lying liberal lamestream media is a far more deadly virus than this Wuhan China virus is.

Ignorance kills, folks. And that's what the media's been peddling since all this has started.

Don't fall for the panic. Use your brains. Logic & reason saves. Ignorance & panic kills.
