Personally, I just lust after owning a brass-mounted/water-cooled MAXIM GUN, in any standard chambering, on the horse-drawn cart, with the harness & all the other circa 1910-1930 “goodies”.
(I have a valid C&R license.)

And you still have a $200 tax stamp.

Pardon me for pointing out that given the USUAL PRICE of a MAXIM water-cooled with all the “goodies”, the “special tax” is “PEANUTS”.

Fwiw, I tried on 2018 to get permission to SELF-IMPORT a 1907-1908 Maxim out of Latin America, W/O success.
(I know where FOUR of them are in a National Police arsenal, “way down yonder” for sale at 600.oo each.)

Given the gun’s age (118 years old)/weight/size, I cannot imagine that anyone would choose to use a “Devil’s Paintbrush” in the 21st Century for ANY “otherwise unlawful purpose”.

Frankly, I believe that the federal government’s stance on ANTIQUE HMGs is STUPID.
(Btw, even a BATFE Senior Agent agreed with my assessment of the “stated current policy”)
