Welcome to what 30+ years of offshoring has done to hollow out American manufacturing. Plus the fact that the Administrative State never managed to re-stock the strategic PPE reserve after SARS in 2009.
Wall Street and Washington (both parties) have sold out Main Street for 40 years to offshore to China, and this is a result.
The national solution is to pay the freight in higher prices so domestic manufacturers enter the market. If national solution to this socialist means the government managing production, we are truly screwed, shortages forever are guaranteed.
We need a national “final solution” to deal with the likes of Northam and all Chinese bought traitors like him.
So, why are you governor? Worthless POS.
Obey the U.S Constitution.
Shoe polish prevents the WuHuFlu.
He should call DEITY they are hoarding them.
I don’t understand why we haven’t fixed this problem yet. I thought once we allowed the construction masks, that would help out. And I thought companies were turning to manufacturing these things, although I imagine it will take another couple of weeks to get a supply chain running.
But at the same time, NO OTHER COUNTRY is allowing export, so we have to do all the manufacturing, so at first we are just replacing millions of masks we normally get from China or other countries.
And apparently, we think we need about 4 billion masks before this is over.
Private users are also in the bidding. You want to exclude them from being able to buy, thus effectively nationalizing the industries in question?
Better would be for the various state health departments to tell the various hospitals' regulatory bodies that it is the responsibility of hospitals to have enough supplies of masks, protective gear, etc, etc to meet an epidemic, and to remember to rotate and replace stock as it becomes old.
Perhaps the state and federal government could give tax breaks for maintaining inventory of important gear (currently, a manufacturer/distributor who maintains inventory has to pay tax on the inventory as a business asset -- this should be waived for certain things)
Price gouging is illegal. Maybe you didn’t know that. And maybe you didn’t know that Trump does not run the states and local hospitals. We are a couple of weeks into this “pandemic” with barely a fraction of the numbers of a typical flu season, and the hospitals are already running out of supplies? And maybe you just see an opportunity to trash Trump, it’s your MO.
If commandeering masks and other PPE (and toilet paper!) were so easy, Democrap Governors could do this right within their own state.
Go ahead, Northram, order somebody in your state to produce masks. You too, Cuomo, order somebody in your state to produce 30,00 ventilators. you guys are martial power. Use your power.
“We need a national final solution to deal with the likes of Northam and all Chinese bought traitors like him.”
Northam needs to be dropped into a vat of “final solution”!
Yeah. Something like domestic production of all medical supplies. Something crazy like that!
Yeah. Bust the unions who were hoarding.

You took the thoughts right out of my head.
His election shows the sad days of our once fine Commonwealth. He even went to my alma mater. Let’s just say his political persuasion is an anomaly at VMI.
Eliminate all Democrats from elective offices? Sounds like a splendid start to me. 8>)
Gov. Gosnell needs to do his damned job and ask for what he needs help with.
Most recent count (from VDH Site) 7,337 tested, 604 positive tests, 83 hospitalizations, 14 deaths. Four of those deaths were in a single senior health rehab facility in Richmond area. As best as can be told (since VDH does not give demographic information on deaths), substantially all of the fatalities were people who were either elderly and in poor health, younger people seemingly all had serious medical conditions prior to coronavirus.
