QUEENS Brian Zupanick, who marked his 39th birthday alone Sunday, couldnt believe his ears when a doctor called him from Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan this weekend.
The doctor had some positive news about his long-time partner, John Giarratano, whod been placed on a ventilator for 13 days, after COVID-19 virus invaded Giarratanos lungs.
Hes off the ventilator, Brian Zupanick told PIX11 with jubilation, as we FaceTimed him to discuss his good piece of news. I couldnt ask for a better present, honestly.
Giarratanoa 42-year-old, freelance TV producerwas the first COVID-19 patient we profiled early last weekend.
His partner, Brian, was desperate to get him the best treatment available.
Giarratano had driven himself to the Mount Sinai affiliate in Oceanside, Long Island on Friday, March 13, a week after he first developed a fever.
He had no underlying medical conditions, yet by very early Sunday, March 15, he was being intubated and placed on a ventilator to breathe.
Giarratanos COVID-19 test results were very delayed, but the president of Mt. Sinai and an infectious disease doctor were able to get Giarratano on the experimental treatment, Remdesivirbefore it became almost impossible to access, because of overwhelming demand.
After the initial treatments with Remdesivir, Giarratano was stable enough for transfer to the flagship Mt. Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, where his partner told us Giarratano received another experimental drug, Hydroxychloroquine.
Something worked obviously, because he really wasnt doing well, Zupanick said.
In the last four days, he started moving in a positive direction, Zupanick said. It was absolutely a miracle. I feel as though it was divine intervention from the very beginning.
I believe in God, and I believe God has answered my prayers. I really, truly do, Zupanick told PIX11. Because it was bad.
Zupanick is profusely thanking the doctors at both Mt. Sinai hospitals for taking such good care of his partner.
Theyre actually quite happy and surprised with how well hes done, Zupanick said. I want to see him!
Don’t forget. This 100 year old drug is “experimental.”
Got to get the gay angle.
According to Trump’s briefing today, I think he said that 1000 people in NY have been on this Rx for two days.
Nice that he gave GOD credit!
It is.
[Dont forget. This 100 year old drug is experimental.]
Missed it today. Good to know. All Ive seen is that social distancing extended through April, which was very depressing to hear.
Wrong drug. He didn’t get Hydroxychloroquine. He got the experimental Remdesivir which is very scarce.
Whoops...he got BOTH, first Remdesivir then later Hydroxychloroquine.
[After the initial treatments with Remdesivir, Giarratano was stable enough for transfer to the flagship Mt. Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, where his partner told us Giarratano received another experimental drug, Hydroxychloroquine.

No. Says he got remdesivir until he was stable enough to be transferred, but still wasnt doing well. Then he got Hydroxychloroquine.
There are MANY gays that are successful business people and Christians I know many people here dont believe you can be a Christian and be gay but many are also VERY PRO LIFE!! Tammy Bruce is one of them!! She was a FLAMING lib the president of NOW in Los Angeles she left the Dems over Bill Clinton she just couldnt take the hypocrisy anymore!! I am very happy to have her on our side!!
Getting the doctor’s call at home on Sunday must have produced high anxiety before hearing “he’s ok/off the ventilator”...
One of the fortunate few respiratory failure patients that has been able to survive extubated on room air. Sadly have to add at least for now. This relatively young patient now has severely damaged lungs, there is no guarantee he won’t have utterly debilitating pulmonary impairment or develop a secondary pneumonia in the near future. Nevertheless wish him well and hope for the best.
WE dont want the word out because ALL of the elites doctors will start to hoard the medications and THEN we will get no facts at all!!!
Yes. Wish he could have tried Hydroxychloroquine sooner.
He may have been a smoker all of my gay friend smoke like chimneys!!!
Govt propaganda should bother us all.
