recorded 23 March 2020. Dr. John Ioannidis interviewed by John Kirby, The Press and The Public Interest:

AUDIO: 1hr2m46: 25 Mar: Youtube: Perspectives on the Pandemic with Dr. John Ioannidis
In this extended interview, Dr. John Ioannidis of Stanford University cautions that we do not have reliable data to make long-term decisions about COVID-19, and that an extended lockdown might have far graver effects than the disease itself.
Use this index to jump to points of interest; though we do recommend taking the time to watch the full interview...

(paraphrasing) Ioannidis re the unusual media focus on COVID-19 (SARS 2.0). the fatalities would possibly have been lost in the bin of influenza numbers, provided US fatalities end up being 10,000 or even less. acknowledges the possibility it could end up being more. you have media following every death, one by one. imagine if we did that with influenza cases every year. it would be horrible. the panic component & the over-emphasis of media attention is probably making things worse. don’t panic. there’s a very high chance we are exaggerating...
I think we really have a pandemic of news stories and news clips and anecdotes about COVID-19. I don’t want to diminish its importance, but we need to get solid evidence, at a minimum...

I live in Oregon, one of my employees mother was diagnosed with the virus.

She wasn’t tested for it and had no respiratory issues, but now she has the virus.

Take any information from the state of Washinton,Oregon, and California with a “grain of salt.”

Just wait till allergy season hits on the west coast, we’ll have 10 million cases by June.

Exactly. But these media ghouls think this is a way to drive viewership. And why do they want viewers? To sell ads.

Just one rather major flaw in their logic. Having destroyed a significant number of businesses through their generated hysteria, just who do they think will be placing any ad buys? What would be the point? Many businesses can’t even open and the ones that can have no need to advertise as they are currently trying to *limit* customers to their stores.

The only blessing in all this is we may see the death of a large portion of the MSM due to saturation reporting of bad news causing people to shut them off for good coupled with a collapse in ad revenue.
