Now that’s a momentous birthdate. Who will celebrate Miley Cyrus at 100?

If I am scrolling around TV channels or internet and run across Rashomon I watch some or all of it, that good, just like you can’t pass up Casablanca. Seven Samurai, I prefer the American copy, probably my Texas, 50’s TV youth. I have odd tastes in movies.

Throne of Blood (or Kumonosu-jō, which translates as Spider-web Castle) is an interesting one, being an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth.

Mifune with Charles Bronson and Ursula Andrews. Andrews supplies the feminine yin and Bronson/Mifune provide the powerful yang.

May all post today strive to be as great as this one. I try to never miss one of his movies.

No one has mentioned “the Hidden Fortress”. Lucas got almost all his ideas for Star Wars from this movie, including scene end swipes.

We’re in luck — TCM is showing several Mifune films tonight: “High and Low,” “Seven Samurai,” “Rashomon,” “Yojimbo” and “”Throne of Blood.” Too bad I still have a job...

Sorry to be nit-picky, but it is Ursula Andress...

I liked it, but you have to admit that the lit ferris wheel scene at the end did challenge reality.

You know better, M7, Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, James Coburn, Robert Vaughn and others, Eli Wallach (2nd best role to Good, Bad and Ugly, or maybe a tie). Top 10 music compared with Star Wars, Jaws et.

[Sorry to be nit-picky, but it is Ursula Andress...]

Back in the day, it was always Ursula Undress. Of course, that was when movies usually showed far less skin than today.

Thanks for the correction. My mind at 67 has a tendency to leap to conclusions. It’s a warning of impending Biden-itis :- )

I’m constantly looking for things that are right and front of my nose. I know because my wife tells me so. Our running joke is to tease each other about who is becoming senile. But thanks to the Lord’s grace, we’re both healthy and energetic.

Fortunately if it’s not something mundane, my mental powers of association are better than they were when I was young.

Cheers, LaRueLaDue.
