Disney execs moan about voluntary 5-20 percent pay cuts to their six-figure salaries after company's lower-paid 'non-essential' staff are told they're being placed on furlough

Disney executives are pushing back on the company's decision to temporarily cut their six-figure salaries just a day after 'non-essential' workers were told that they were being placed on furlough from April 19.

The grumblings about their five to 20 percent pay cuts have been branded 'selfish and sad' as many lesser-paid employees face weeks and even months furloughed as the Disney parks remain closed until further notice amid the coronavirus pandemic.

On Monday, Walt Disney Co. Executive Chairman Bob Iger announced he will forgo his entire multi-million dollar salary and other top executives will take pay cuts after parks closed and movie releases and production were put on hold, placing major financial strain on the company.

Executives are not happy with the cuts, the Hollywood Reporter claims, as they claim it is not voluntary, as suggested, and that Iger is not taking as much as a hit to his pay packet as them.

Affected executives at the VP, senior VP and executive VP level are said to be upset at the amended contracts they were sent following the March 30 announcement, which sees them taking between a five percent and 20 percent paycut on their salaries.

The cuts are described as 'temporary' but there is no end date set and it is reported that they were given only two days to sign.

My daughter is a disney lower level manager The message was there will be phases of furloughs and you may or may not be in the first wave.

She works to cut stealing by employees The fewer employees i would think the less she is needed. but despite no cash flow from customers in the registers there are things to be stolen in the park.

Of course they are, greed is a selfishly powerful mechanism and human characteristic.

“What will happen to all the H-1Bs they brought over to replace American workers?”

They’ll get to stay. But you already knew that.

I’m betting that they’ll be voting this fall as well, but then I’m getting cynical.

Have you not been to a disney park? most of the merch online is also in the park. It has to be stored and inventoried , BY Employees, even when guests are not in the park. .

Tell your friend, they have a 29,000 crystal miniature of the castle and it takes three employees to take it our of the vault.

Don’t they understand that after this storm has passed the economy will boom like never before and they’ll recover their losses?

Yes, America is so great that no crisis, secret cabal of traitors or unqualified resident in the Office can bring it down. It's going to look like a bull out of the chute and God help any in its way (cough, China, cough cough). All this accomplished was making us redefine priorities and streamline productivity while truly appreciating what we've been blessed with.

America has to get back to work, shake off the hit and carry on. These two doctors would have our nation collapse from their medical standpoints not understanding there would BE no medical capability without our thriving economy.
