I tend to agree that ‘herd immunity’ must take place in order to make CV-19 into just another flu. My concern is if one catches the virus and are treated early with the Z-paks, does your body fully develop the antibodies that will guarantee you not catching it again.

Another concern is that if Z-paks are extremely successful then the motivation to quickly develop a vaccine will diminish. Because many millions of Americans will not have caught the virus, a vaccine for all is the only way to really put CV-19 behind us as a threat to civilization.

interesting question ... i’ve never seen it before ... ALL antivirals basically work only when taken very early in the infection such as famciclovir for shingles ... never heard a doc say immunity for shingles wouldn’t develop in such a case, though ...

also, viral infections take a while to incubate (usually several days) before symptoms first appear, so the body has a pretty high viral load at that point as well as having been exposed to the virus for quite some time. also, antivirals don’t actually kill viruses, but prevent them from replicating so the body isn’t overwhelmed with a greater numbers of viruses than it can kill, thus freezing the number of viruses and giving the body a chance to kill them, so viruses still remain in the body for some number od days after taking the antiviral as well ...
