I have been tracking the growth in numbers for Maryland, Virginia, DC, and West Virginia. A month ago VA had twice the numbers of DC, and MD had 3 times the DC numbers, and WV had none. Today, the 16th, (rounded) DC has 2,200, VA has 6,500, and MD has 10,000. So it looks as if the DC Mayor’s early shelter in place has helped keep the numbers down. WV now has over 700, and Puerto Rico (because my son lives there) has close to 1,000. In DC grocery shoppers are supposed to wear masks or scarves.

Thanks for that update on the VA/DC/MD/WV numbers. DC seems to also have a higher rate of recovery than nearly any other state. Any thoughts on that?

Why in the name of all that’s good, were these people allowed anywhere near scientific research? Chinese have never been known as a smart peoples. Besides the ‘lucky’ CCP offspring that can afford to go to foreign universities, the average IQ seems to be around 80, youth are separated from family units by necessity to work so they have no support systems other than peers, and nowhere near enough protein in the diet for highly developed brains. (If they were geniuses Mao would never have gotten a foothold). It’s like turning 12yo’ds loose to play inside a Level 4 lab. Or untrained ‘doctors’ and ‘nurses’ loose inside health care settings. They even try to cover up their mess like 12yo’ds.

congress needs to pass a law that no Chinese firms can own or buy any ‘essential’ businesses - such as meatpackers, farms, hatcheries, fisheries, livestock ranches, agricultural growers, real estate, etc. If they want to buy a donut shop, fine.
China’s next step will be to try to snatch up distressed companies at firesale prices so as to control pricing and production of a foreign country. That can’t be allowed to happen.

Watched Pelosi this morning. No responsibility for what is going on. All she can say is ‘testing, testing, testing’ as if tests were just farted out of someone’s butt magically. She’s as dismissive as if it were strep throat being tested for.
No regard that it took time for scientists working their butts off to even make a test to use to test. More time to roll the tests out, time to improve the tests, supply chain bottlenecks because of demand, and still 3M done in less than as many weeks.

Earlier reporting by CBC on July 14th (see below) stated Dr. Xiangguo Qiu and her husband and an unknown number of students were escorted out of the Canadian Level 4 lab. The Canadian government had been investigating them for months and had evidence there was removal of unauthorized material from Winnipeg to China. From the little information allowed to be publicly released it seems there was intellectual property or technology leakage. However, the important aspect of this is that this group was involved in setting up the Level 4 lab in Wuhan.
