As someone else posted elsewhere, these visits from CCP officials occurred after flights from China were stopped.

If you read carefully there's no claim that the visitors were Chinese or came from China.

“If it was WW2 those plants would have been seized under the enemy act”

A nation dependent on China for 80% of its pharmaceuticals, 93% of its laptop computers, a high percentage of other high tech products, plus dependent on imports for nearly 100% of its apparel, is not going to win a protracted war with China or an alliance between China a Russia. The current situation shows how vulnerable we are.

What will our politicians and corporate leaders do about it. My guess is they plan to return to business as usual as soon as possible. The current crop of business executives grew up with outsourcing - they are buyers not makers. The last great generation of plant managers, industrial engineers, production managers, and manufacturing process engineers in many outsourced industries is retiring. At the direction of CEO’s those managers and engineers taught the Chinese and other foreign countries how to manufacture goods critical for daily life and defense.

In ten years, if this country decides to rebuild its industrial capability, there won’t be management and engineering people with the practical knowledge of how to build the factories, set up the equipment, train the employees, and manage the facilities efficiently. Does anyone believe the Chinese, Koreans, and Indians are going to send their experienced people to the US in order to help us build the industry we need to employ our people and be self sufficient?

This is an interesting article from Forbes about the Chinese company that owns Smithfield.

WH Group - those are the initials of the son of the man whose company bought Smithfield.

That would be great. Or in an app. I want to know if even one part is made in china, or even one steo in the manufacturing process occurs in China

Not sure I agree. We are already at war with China, most of America just hasn’t figured it out yet. It is a sneaky, stealth war.

Stealth War: How China Took Over While America’s Elite Slept Hardcover – October 1, 2019
by Robert Spalding (Author)

While those in power have been distracted and disorderly, China has waged a six-front war on America’s economy, military, diplomacy, technology, education, and infrastructure—and they’re winning. It’s almost too late to undo the shocking, though nearly invisible, victories of the Chinese.

In Stealth War, retired Air Force Brigadier General Robert Spalding reveals China’s motives and secret attacks on the West. Chronicling how our leaders have failed to protect us over recent decades, he provides shocking evidence of some of China’s most brilliant ploys, including:

• Placing Confucius Institutes in universities across the United States that serve to monitor and control Chinese students on campus and spread communist narratives to unsuspecting American students.

• Offering enormous sums to American experts who create investment funds that funnel technology to China.

• Signing a thirty-year agreement with the US that allows China to share peaceful nuclear technology, ensuring that they have access to American nuclear know-how.

Spalding’s concern isn’t merely that America could lose its position on the world stage. More urgently, the Chinese Communist Party has a fundamental loathing of the legal protections America grants its people and seeks to create a world without those rights.

Despite all the damage done so far, Spalding shows how it’s still possible for the U.S. and the rest of the free world to combat—and win—China’s stealth war.
———-
Rob Spalding is a national security strategist and a globally recognized expert on Chinese economic competition and influence. He retired from the US Air Force as a brigadier general. He is a former pilot of the B-2 Stealth Bomber, as well as former director for strategic planning at the National Security Council in the White House.

For a mere $160 that beauty can be all yours. $10 to $12 /lb.

It’s wayyyy too salty for me, but I’d sure be curious to try a slice.
