A thousand of years from now archeologists will be digging up our graveyards and pondering the question whether the level of tattooing indicated one’s status in society or their level in the high priesthood. They won’t know it’s was because a big part of our population were dumber than dirt.

Same, when I was growing up it was ex-cons and sailors that had tattoos. No one would dream of getting one. In the early 80’s I came home from college one weekend with a pierced ear. My dad called me a name that rhymes with momo and berated me the entire weekend. I took stupid thing out as soon as I got in the car on my way back to school.

Having worked for decades at a large,and very well known,hospital we had very high standards for our staff.I,personally,had a policy (unspoken and unwritten) to never hire anyone with visible tattoos...regardless of how well qualified they might otherwise have been.

And I never did.

It is not often you write "I make bad choices" on your face.

If you must have a tattoo (eeeek...needles!) then have it put someplace where you can cover it with conventional clothing.

It means something "personal" to you? Then keep it personal.

Years ago at a California restaurant, the waiter, a young white kid, had a full Maori face tattoo. I always wonder how quickly he regretted that.

At Goth Day at Disneyland ten years ago, a lady in a black dress had a tattoo of a lady in a black dress shooting herself in the head (lots of red in that tattoo). I thought about how she’d explain it to her future kids or grandkids!
