Looks like it might be the fuse or detonator from the front of the bomb.

If that was a 500 kg bomb, DO NOT MESS WITH HER!

I had a shitzu once. I think I was ripped off though. There wasn’t any zu. When handling that dog I had to wear chainmail gloves. Worst little mongrel I ever had. The rainbow bridge couldn’t get here fast enough, may he rest in peace...

The Germans had a type of cluster bomb. Roughly grenade like in size and shape.

Looks like a small incendiary bomb. They were a about a foot long with a tail stabilizer, which this one is missing. They were dropped in larger bomb casings which broke apart, letting the bomblets scatter.

What are chips? you might ask.
Theyre crisps. That's actually a better name for them -- more descriptive.

Looks like a German bomb with the fins torn off(when it buried ) Germans had some rather small bombs. Not the big ones Americans and Brits dropped.

In fairness to the woman, its not something that looks like a typical bomb. No, it doesn't. I'd be curious as to what kind of bomb it was and what did the Germans target with that type of bomb. Of course, it doesn't really say it was a German bomb.

According to my husband after a quick look it might be a German incendiary bomb

According to my husband after a quick look it might be a German incendiary bomb Someone else mentioned that also and it's probably right, but you'd think there would've been hundreds of them dropped in the area, unless it was a stray. When I was in the Air Force and stationed in England our F-4s often carried a pod under the wings with small practice bombs of about the same size.
