I hope my garden holds up.

Mine too. I covered some plants, and brought some still in containers, in. Checking the NWS Offices, and the national map, it looks like this plunge of cold air southward begins in earnest around Paducah, KY (freeze warnings start just east of there) and continues eastward into the Appalachian Mountains. Many cold records may fall.

The volcano Krakatau erupted a couple of months ago and spewed IIRC 15 KM of debris into the atmosphere.

I’m sitting here “Freep’ing” and watching the snow storm out my window in New Hampshire (east of Concord area).

Man, I HATE snow. Suppose to hit 32 every night until Tuesday.

I can’t wait till I have enough cash to build our home on our 10 acres in Okeechobee FL.

I live in Herkimer. We have snow on the ground, and they predict more by noon. The winds are also picking up. At 8 AM the temp is around freezing.

It is ridiculous cold for May in Atlanta. Our heat is still kicking on and we had to close the hatch door on the chicken house the last two nights.

I went and bought more hay and closed the vents in order to keep my girls warm. As the sun gets a little higher I am going to let them out to sunbathe.

I spent some early formative years just west of Herkimer in Whitesboro outside Utica. We studied the Mohawk Valley and the Iroquois Confederacy a lot in grade school. I was always enthralled by the role NYS and the Mohawk Valley took in the French & Indian War and the Revolutionary War.

By the time I was 21 and graduating from college, I decided "enough" with cold weather, snow and perpetual cloudy skies and went to California. It's nice to see snow on your own terms when you want it. So, after 45 years in CA, we bought a retirement home in North Idaho close to Canada...back to the cold and snow! LOL.

Herkimer was a Palatine German from the Middle Rhine area, close to where our family emigrated from. All sorts of connections!

General Nicholas Herkimer at Oriskany (he died from these wounds):

Yeh I plumped up the hay and closed the vents in our house too. Mr. GG2 always gets stuck getting up at 7:00 AM to open the hatch so they can come out of the house to get to their feeder and waterer. We have to check them at dusk anyway because we have one hen that thugs the door and tries to keep the others out. 😆

I was a transplant from PA. I had two tours at Griffiss AFB, met my wife there. She was from Little Falls. Ended up staying here for about 30 years. Love all the history from up here and I like 3 out of the 4 seasons. But winter up here is too much. My wife passed away back in March, so I’ll be selling the homestead up here and moving back to PA (Lebanon).

I went to bed about 4 this morning, and there was a light dusting on the cars. It’s been gone for a while now. We may possibly get a light downfall later, but like most snowfalls at this time of the year, it won’t be sticking around.
