Yes esp after all the talk about his mom. But if article comparing deaths in nursing homes in 2 states should have total number of people in homes in both stares. They only stated FL.
I recall reading that about 5% of NY NH residents died from this as compared to 0.7% in FL. In addition to the administrative differences it would be very interesting to know the respective rates of TIMELY HCQ use in those populations.
FL, which was much more open, had a lot fewer deaths overall, although I think we actually have a slightly higher population than NYS. This could be due to a lot of factors.
But if youre talking just about the percentage of deaths in nursing homes, they did a good job here. Most of the first wave of deaths were in a few nursing homes, including in semi-rural North Florida, where theres barely any population to begin with. But Florida and GA did control the spread in their nursing homes. Another thing was that family knew the restrictions would be lifted as soon as possible and the homes made efforts to keep people in touch. Probably more people die of loneliness than of any cold virus.
Also, I think a lot of our nursing homes are much smaller and more dispersed than those in NY, so maybe this is also something that should be looked at.
