This really happened, back in the early 1900s, but I think you will enjoy this diversion. It's an interesting story.
My parents had their most valuable property taken from them by corrupt government officials by eminent domain. They were paid less than what they owed on the property; their legal expenses were higher than the amount that they received. It was a horror story from start to finish.
