In a special titled Coming Together: Standing Up to Racism, the cast of Sesame Street - including fan-favorites such as Elmo, Big Bird, and Abby Cadabby - joined CNN Saturday night, to discuss and explain the concepts of protesting and racism to children for the first time.
In a now viral clip Elmo tells his dad, Louie, that he does not understand what is happening with protests across the United States. Louie explains to him, Through protesting, people are allowed to share their feelings and work together to make things better. When Elmo asks if the protesters are sad, Louie responds, They are sad and upset. And they have every right to be, Elmo. People are upset because racism is a huge problem in our country.
Elmo wants to end racism too, said Elmo, after his dad, Louie, explained racial inequalities.
This is not the first time Louie has appeared on Sesame Street to help explain difficult topics to children. In 2010, the show aired an episode titled When Families Grieve that explained the concept of loss and mourning to Elmo after his Uncle passed away.

Did Elmo teach the tots that if you’re the wrong color, that you were born a bad person, and should be ashamed of yourself?
I thought I heard that Van Jones was supposed to be on that program as well.
People are upset because racism is a huge problem in our country.
BS. I do not know a single person nor have I worked with single person who gives a fig what color you are. Discrimination in buying, selling, hiring and educating all illegal. Thus is a MSM lie.
I have heard that every new puppeteer in the last 20 years on Sesame Street is or has been a homo. EVERY ONE.
CNN finally talks on the level of its audience.
Oh Lordy. Puke. And not surprised.
I quit my job to raise my kids. Only let them watch PBS and I watched it with them to comment. (Arthur lied a lot and got away with it. No.no in my house.)
One day I was watching “Reading Rainbow” with my 5 year old. I got a phone call. Got off the phone when it ended. Folks, we’re talking benign “Reading Rainbow”! (Or so I thought.)
My 5 y.o. daughter walked up to me when I got off the phone and said, “Mommy, I know were babies come from and I have a third hole!!!”
They thought 5 y.o. needed to know this????
That was 20 years ago.
McCarthy was right.
Did Elmo’s dad explain why they’re starving after Hooper’s Store got looted and burned?
Wouldnt you have to teach kids racism to teach them to protest against it?l
Dad, why do the humans get to drive home but we get shoved into a box overnight? And what's this "payday" they talk about?
Did elmo ever explain why his handler went to jail for molesting children?
Holy moly. A third hole? I thought the transsexual people talk about the front hole and the back hole. I don’t think I want to know what the heck this 3rd hole is.
Sesame Street was creepy when I was a kid. Now, I understand why and was right not to watch it.
.
Doesn’t Elmo have Two Daddies ??
