There, there, don’t get upset. You don’t have to follow any of those boring old conventions if you don’t want to. I certainly don’t want to stifle a free spirit.

You keep posting to me; does that make you a stalker? You have the same opportunity to ignore my posts, you know.

Videos are also a good way to learn.

Here are some ESL videos that you might find helpful.

I took French in catholic school. No one to speak it with outside of school. Got a B for being on the football team.

We had a French exchange student for a 19 day summer program. She spoke 4 languages. Her father said, if you want to do business learn english.

The fact that English is, in fact, two separate languages, one written and the other spoken, makes it incredibly difficult to master.

Try Duolingocom on his/her PC - it’s a very good way to work not just on a second language but pronunciation and syntax as well.

My dilema: A good friend, brought up in Korea but who became a US citizen about 10 years ago,has what can be said to be,at best,a fair command of spoken English.

Even native-born Americans sometimes make grammatical, syntactical, and orthographical mistakes - your posting provides ample evidence of that!

(It's spelled "dilemma," by the way; and please leave a space after commas and periods.)

Answer: There is no "dilemma" here! Your friend should be able to learn enough English to "get along." End of story.

Regards,

Thanks for the tip on Duolingo. I've been wanting a language learning program not aggressively seeking my limited income.

I had learnt to write Pitman’s Shorthand in high school.

LOL - Oh Nana, your age is showing more than my Freudian slip. You attended back when education was the priority.
