I must admit, looking back at how much I used to be into sports, I cringe a bit at it now. What was I thinking? There’s so much more to life.

I believe I am far from the only one who has had such an epiphany.

With ESPN having its lowest ratings in 41 years, the roundball money seems to be drying up. Sad, isn’t it? /sarc

ESPN - and Disney as the parent company - have paid a fortune to the NBA ... billions ... for broadcast rights. They really want the NBA back. They need the NBA back. Personally, I have not watched a game in a decade and don't miss it at all.

My children, ages 14 and 11, who play organized sports very seriously, have little to no interest in professional sports. Quite the opposite of me when I was their age. Like most kids back in the late 70s and early 80s, I grew up following professional sports, watching every game and reading the newspaper’s sports section first the next morning. I woke up and went to bed thinking about my teams. None of that happens with my kids, and I hear from my friends this is a common theme for today’s youth. I used to think this was a shame, and now I find it a blessing.
