My mother lives 20 minutes outside Asheville. Last time we went downtown we were harassed by the homeless & drug addicts who hang out & drum all day in Pack park. Just obnoxious & scary.

When I go back next month we will stick by Black Mountain. The town seems to allow these people to harass people who come to eat & shop.

The ONLY people protesting should be the American taxpayer against the freeloaders.

I bought my Sig P226 at Finkelsteins. Last I heard they moved to Lexington Ave. when Pack Square had a facelift.

Finkelstein used to have a sign saying “Our credit manager is Helen Waite. If you want credit go to Helen Waite”

I guess Finkelstein didn’t offer credit except for pawned items.

Same same in Lexington. (Hogtown!)

Local folks, of all races, I see out and around are just goin about their daily lives.

Like Mr Schlichter said in his piece. Wanna quick sanity check? Look out your window.."

Some black folk have seemed almost overly nice, kinda like we were when "Vanilla Ice" pulled that stunt way-back-when and we were like Sorry y'all, didn't know they were gonna do that". Hehehe. d;^)

Protesting and bitching about some perceived injustice is social norm in Asheville.

Finklesteins moved from Pack Square after that block got rehabbed in the late 80’s or early 90’s and moved two blocks north on the same road same side of the street and is still open.

The original location had a great, old time feel to it.

Yeah, almost the same as back in my hometown. They held a BLM-style march a few days ago, and it was nothing but a crowd of white earth mamas, queers, pseudo-Commies, and sundry other deadbeats and dropouts from society. I think I saw maybe three black faces in the crowd. Bottom-feeders.

You think that’s ironic, they had a BLM protest in Branson MO today.

I’m going to remember those wonderful times in Asheville and the “Honda Hoot”. That was a beautiful place to have that event, demo rides on the Blue Ridge Parkway and almost any brand motorcycle available to ride. It was too good to be true, the citizens got tired of the “Scooter Trash” getting their parking places, clogging up their businesses and we got bumped out of Asheville and down to depressing old Knoxville.

Back in 1978, I was the Senator Jesse Helms field man for Asheville and the surrounding counties and stayed at #5 Hilltop in Biltmore Forrest. Back in those days, the mountain counties were Republican but tended to be Ford Republicans instead of Reagan Republicans. But Helms did pretty well in the mountains even though his real strength was among the more conservative tobacco growing areas down below.

Go online & read the letters to the editor @ the Mountain Express. My mom saves some for me. Some of these people live in a parallel universe.

Good point. Back then they had Cindy Sheehan as their victim. Now they have George Floyd.

You won’t believe how far Madison County has progressed since we got rid of E.Y. and Zeno Ponder and their crowd.

I remember the name and reputation of Zeno Ponder but I never met him. We had a nice young Madison County coordinator in Mars Hill. She was very attractive and very diplomatic at dealing with those who still had sore feelings about the Reagan/Helms side of the party.

I was working in Asheville at that time.

When there the girls were passing by, the wife didn't think too much of them, and their protest, yet the best I could come with standing by one young lady who was topless, as we waited for the cross walk light to change was, OORAH!
