Former White House press secretary Sarah Sanders detailed an explosive fight between then-chief of staff Mick Mulvaney and former national security adviser John Bolton during President Trumps state visit to London a year ago.
Sanders writes in her forthcoming book that Bolton was drunk on power and had forgotten that nobody elected him to anything, according to Axios.
"Bolton apparently felt too important to travel with the rest of us," Sanders wrote.
"As we were ready to depart for the Winfield House, [the U.S. ambassador's residence in London], we loaded onto a small black bus. We waited and watched as Bolton sped by and left us in the dust. The discussion on the bus quickly moved ... to how arrogant and selfish Bolton could be, not just in this moment but on a regular basis," Sanders wrote.
Sanders noted that even Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin was on the bus.
"When we finally arrived at the Winfield House, Mick Mulvaney, typically laid-back and not one to get caught up in titles or seniority, confronted Bolton and unleashed a full Irish explosion on him, Sanders said.
"Lets face it, John," Mulvaney said, according to Sanders. "Youre a f------ self-righteous, self-centered son of a b----!'"
Sanders said Bolton often thought he was more important than other White House officials and could play by a different set of rules than the rest of the team.
Another account of the trip, reported last week by the Daily Mail, said Bolton demanded his own Air Force jet to travel to London for the state visit instead of flying on Air Force One with the rest of the staff and the president.
Well, I, for one, will admit being fooled.
I thought Bolton would be a good choice. Later it turned out he was just another deep state idiot...
It turns out, though, that they were right. He's an a-hole.
I liked Bolton. Always did, until recently.
I liked Roberts too.
I liked Bush too.
I voted for McCain once.
I voted for Romney.
I don't say these things in a boastful way. I did what I thought was the right thing to do at the time.
Looking back, it is clear the GOP has been corrupt for a long time. Perhaps five percent less corrupt than the Democrats but corrupt none the less.
Appears these traitors attended the same "finishing school" as did fauci.
A side effect of Trump is that many DC apparatchiks have been smoked out and put on display by his choosing them. Their “legend” is nullified and they leave angry and looking for a mictophone or a printing press to proclaim “’Tis nothing but a flesh wound!!!”
I couldve written your post word-for-word.
Given the choices we had there wasn’t much in the way of other options.
Pompeo and Mulvaney 2024
Of course it has. Read my tag line. Its been that way for a be long time. I called Bush out in 2005 on this forum and got crucified. Ive called out Trump for proposing a budget early this year that had a $1.3 trillion budget deficit (pre-Covid) and got equally skewered. I dont care. I stand by my principles. If we dont have those-we are no better than liberals. But whats funny-on this forum now -when you stand by your principles and call a spade a spade-people accuse you of being a liberal. Typical.
Hindsight is 20/20. As true today as when I first heard it 60 Years ago.
Very well stated, Secy Mulvaney!
Hey, even Greg Gutfeld held Bolton is high esteem.
Bolton was the sage of Redeye way back when.
Sort of like Worf’s advice on Star Trek TNG. Almost a parody but in real life.
Its amazinghe even looks like Dave Letterman these days, too.
All $179 and thats just Schiff, Nadler, Vindman, Ciarmella and the Bolton family.
He was president of Red Eye.
Good for you. You’ve gotten some things right in the past. And you’ve also gotten some things wrong - which you don’t bring up.
