This is a serious problem with all of our liability laws and regulations.
People are so sure that the government has made it impossible for anybody to ever get hurt by anything, that they ASSUME that if a company is letting them do something, it must be perfectly safe.
What made them think a volcano could never erupt, or that somehow a cruise liner would have prior knowledge to such an event?
Probably their firm belief that government “regulates” this sort of thing.
