It began with a plume of brilliant white smoke, billowing silently from the volcano's rugged crater before mushrooming into an ominous black cloud. By the time their tour guide had yelled at them to take cover it was too late for newlyweds Matthew and Lauren Urey. The couple from Richmond, Virginia, were soon engulfed in a suffocating fog of molten ash, scorching their flesh, pummeling them with debris and plunging their dream honeymoon into a living hell.

I hiked to the middle of the Santorini volcano when I was in Greece, and I knew full well it could blow under my feet.
Totally worth it LOL, and there are worse ways to go than getting ‘sploded in the newest eruption of Thera :)
People don’t seem to understand that nature isn’t a theme park.
This is a serious problem with all of our liability laws and regulations.
People are so sure that the government has made it impossible for anybody to ever get hurt by anything, that they ASSUME that if a company is letting them do something, it must be perfectly safe.
What made them think a volcano could never erupt, or that somehow a cruise liner would have prior knowledge to such an event?
Probably their firm belief that government “regulates” this sort of thing.
Are you people ever responsible for your own actions. I dont go snow boarding no matter who is selling tickets..
lol... considering the story of getting caught in a volcano blast, I was expecting total disfigurement.
I call it “Disneyfication.” Nature is just a part of a Disney park, totally safe. You can’t get killed by a grizzly bear or buffalo or alligator. If you fall off the cliff into the Grand Canyon you’ll just bounce right back up- they have safety nets down there, right?
In the article it mentioned that the cruise line didn’t tell them about how active that particular volcano can be. So, they don’t have Google or DuckDuckGo or some other search engine? I think that I would have done my own research before I decided to take that excursion.
I’m sorry they were hurt but THEY decided to go!
“Royal Caribbean is the deeper pocket”
After the last three months do they even have a pocket?
If Yellowstone blows, the entire population of Earth can sue...
Sherpas got mad loot...
Well they appear to have all their arms and legs unlike some of us.
So because the volcano erupted 3 years ago, this knowledge would have affected the decision to go tour 'an active volcano'?
I'm puzzled, just what part of 'tour an active volcano' doesn't imply risk and danger?
Also, wow, really? You're suing over burns when 21 people died?
Well, if grandpa can sue for tossing his grandchild from a window, why not? Lawyers gotta eat.
Not to mention YSNP has 3000 earthquakes a year.
LOL!
Mother Nature is beautiful but she is one cold hearted bitch.
I tried to convince someone that the Yellowstone Park Rangers shut off the falls and shut down the geysers after dark. Didn’t work.
There are people who would believe it.......................
If all the other passengers went on a jumping-off-a-cliff excursion, would you go too?
(/talking like their mom)
