I hiked to the middle of the Santorini volcano when I was in Greece, and I knew full well it could blow under my feet.
Totally worth it LOL, and there are worse ways to go than getting ‘sploded in the newest eruption of Thera :)
People don’t seem to understand that nature isn’t a theme park.
I call it “Disneyfication.” Nature is just a part of a Disney park, totally safe. You can’t get killed by a grizzly bear or buffalo or alligator. If you fall off the cliff into the Grand Canyon you’ll just bounce right back up- they have safety nets down there, right?
In the article it mentioned that the cruise line didn’t tell them about how active that particular volcano can be. So, they don’t have Google or DuckDuckGo or some other search engine? I think that I would have done my own research before I decided to take that excursion.
I’m sorry they were hurt but THEY decided to go!
