According to the chart below below, "removed" can be either an older or younger generation. I did not realize until just now. Both Ancestry and MyHeritage say "1st cousin 3x removed." This little boy is an ancestor (my Gr-Grandfather's wife was the the sister of the little boy’s father).

Great-grandfather’s wife? Do you mean YOUR great-grandmother? Because if not, then the child is only related by marriage.

And he’s not an ancestor of anyone! Just elder gen.

Though I never understood the inconsistency, I have never heard the term “Grand Aunt” used. They were always “Great Aunt”. Always understood that to mean my grandparents’ sibling, not cousin!
