Bonilla signed the most lucrative contract in baseball history in 1991 when he signed with the Mets. He did not come close to the production he had with Pittsburgh. Despite being born and raised in the Bronx he could not handle the heat in NYC.

Poor Booby. Would he get “reparations” payments too, seeing he does not have any “white privilege”???

"...every year on July 1, Bonilla gets a check for $1,193,248.20 from the New York Mets..."
More money than the Pats will pay Cam Newton to replace Brady for an entire season even.

Well, I think we need more special days at the stadium, you know? Like, uh...Joe Pepitone Day.
After all, Pepitone did design Central park.

Bonilla certainly is not a Hall of Fame level player, but he certainly showed HoF level smarts in negotiating and signing this contract.

This story reeks of envy. Good for Bobby Bo; at least he put in some work to break into to the majors and stay there.
I propose we have a Barack H.O. day: from obscurity to living in the Hamptons without ever doing an honest day’s work. Now there’s something to celebrate.
