Prayer thread for my daughter
7/1/2019 | vanity

Posted on 07/19/2020 3:40:29 PM PDT by fhayek

We get prayer threads on this site from time to time, and the people here are so gracious about it. I now am asking for prayers for my daughter.

Now, she isn't sick or in danger, but I swear she could use some divine intervention. Her problem? She made the audacious decision to get married in the year 2020. Here's the rundown:

The Catholic Church has limited the number of people who can be at the ceremony to 50. That is less than half the number of people who would want to come.

The place where her reception was scheduled...burned to the ground about a month ago.

She got a replacement hall, but at first they told us that we could only have 50 people, then they cancelled altogether thanks to the edicts of Andrew Cuomo.

She had planned a honeymoon in Hawaii, but because of the travel restriction (and subsequent quarantine), she had to cancel it.

She is now going to set up a tent in her yard and hope that the neighbors don't blow her in (I am sure there is some violation or other).

She is holding up okay, but I can see that the stress is getting to her. We have issues of people coming from out of town (subject to the quarantine) and I am praying that it doesn't rain. August 15. I could use a hand here. She is such a good kid, and she deserves better. Thanks in advance.

Paul says, ‘where sin abounds, grace abounds even more’!

Praying that supernatural blessings come from all the twists and turns.

Prayers. August 15 is a good date....Our Lady will help!

Things will be different from the plans but you’ve got to just go ahead and make it fun. I think about the Brits during WWII...

Of course, in this case, the problem is our own government, not an outside attack, and that makes it difficult. Plus it appears that things change every day based on what is most politically advantageous to your dictator ...er. I meant “Governor.”

Years later they’ll have a story to tell to your grandchildren.

Prayers up. IMO it looks like a lot of signals to postpone.

Why not just wait until 2021 or have it a few States further south where you can have as many people as you want. If you say people are traveling then does it matter if they travel to New York or a state a few states away?

I know one thing. Blaming the governer even if it is his fault does nothing. Blame never does. Do whatever you have to do. Life throws curves .

Look at Florida and Texas. They didn’t want to lock down and now they are disasters

Here’s a thought: give her a small ceremony and when all this crap is over in November, hold a big ceremony and huge celebration! Everyone will understand, and when the time comes, everyone will be in a very celebratory mood!

Yeah it sucks right now, but the consolation is that we are all going through this together. I missed my Father’s death and funeral. There’s no sense in being bitter about it. It just is what it is.

Well, you are right, I should not BLAME the governor. But he can be somewhat arbitrary from time to time. Our Democrat controlled legislature has given him dictatorial powers, and he uses it. Bars and restaurants have made provisions (according to his mandate) to reopen, only to have new (and contradictory) orders implemented. A number of them have basically given up.

it is better to marry than to burn. These troubles will turn into adventures as they age.

God bless her -— I feel so awful for the people who had all their plans messed up over this “virus crap.” Prayers that she can keep it all in perspective and realize what great stories she’ll be able to tell in the future! ((HUGS))

I will have been married 30 years at a the end of September. More than 120 people came to our wedding and I wish I could remember everyone who did but at the end of the day... it is completely about the couple PERIOD. I would say we haven’t heard or seen more than half of our wedding invites and that is simply how life goes. Prayers for her big day but I really side with Dogbert... have a wedding and plan a blow out reception for later when all this has cleared up. Take a lot of pictures because it will be a great story for the future grandkids about how Gram and Pappy married during the 2020 Pandemic! Hugs!

Tell her to get married by the Justice of the Peace and then hold another wedding when the madness leaves town.

Right now it's just not a nice day for a:

My friend’s niece had this problem, too. She and her (now husband) decided to get legally married justice of the peace style, and postponed the ceremony, reception, and honeymoon to next year. Your daughter may want to consider something like that, because your governor may decide to do a great many ridiculous things before the year is out, not to mention many of your guests may not want to travel, particularly by airplane. It sucks but these are sucky times. Prayers up for her and you...

My husband’s goddaughter got married at a turnout on a mountain road in Colorado with less than 10 people present. It was March 2020 and the ski resort where the big wedding was supposed to happen was forced to close on a couple of days notice.
The marriage is the important thing. The hoopla can be small or be postponed. If these two should become one, then God bless them, and whatever kind of day it turns out to be.

God, you hold us all in your care. Help this young couple find peace and hope as they make their plans. Help all concerned adjust, adapt, and persevere. Amen.
