Chief James Craig defends ‘necessary’ force when violence erupts during protests (Detroit)

DETROIT - Detroit police Chief James Craig told “Fox & Friends” officers have never used force against peaceful protesters in response to a federal judge’s order banning tear gas, batons and other means of force for the next two weeks.

“Someone has to step up and just simply say this must stop,” Craig said Monday. “It doesn’t matter if you’re left, if you’re right, what the issues are. They have an agenda.”

Craig’s comments came after a U.S. District Court granted a temporary restraining order Friday to Detroit Will Breathe, a group that sued the city claiming excessive force was unlawfully used in recent months.

According to Craig, his department has used force six times in the last 100 days of protesting, Fox reported.

“The first three days, second time when they attacked our vehicles,” he said, “And then when they wanted to set up a Seattle-type zone and they refused to be arrested. And then resisted arrest. So, yes, force was used, but just that force that was necessary.”

**SNIP**

When co-host Will Cain asked if Detroit would use the Portland or Seattle police model as referenced in the order, he responded, “Not for James Craig. That is not the model.”

“When you … allow protests that cause you to retreat from a police station. When you allow people to take over six city blocks and then they are shooting, violent acts, rapes and murder and the police are not allowed to go in and do a proper investigation, oh, that’s not the model I follow. We’re very different here in Detroit.”

It’s called anarcho-tyranny Chief, and the psychopaths running Democrat city governments expect you to “lead, follow, or get out of the way.”

The amount of force that is neccesary is not always immefiatly clear. One can either underestimate or overestimate it. I think it only right that those who are attacked be allowed to err on the side of more force rather than less within reason....which means more than the strictly minumum neccesary force that seemed neccesary in retrospect. It is just that the aggressor be the one to suffer the excess of force since they made the siyuation neccesary.

How can a judge specify what tactics are used? Unbelievable. I wouldn’t blame people if they find out where that judge lives and use the same tactics against him or her.

I am surprised Detroit is handling this so well.

Even Baltimore has been rather blah on the protests. The worst thing was July 4 when they yanked down Columbus.

In other words a corrupt judge tells the Detroit police, when it comes to these riots, they are to direct traffic or stay home...Tell the judge to shove it...What’s he going to do, call the police, on the police???

Craig is a really good guy, what police chief ought be. Also, even liberal blacks in the Detroit government want no part of the perpetual peaceful demonstration. The city is very slowly coming back after the impact of the huge ‘67 riot/insurrection and everyone knows a Portland like scene would finish the motorless city for good.

I’m sure that the Detroit police chief knows where this federal judge traitor lives and can make his life miserable.
