Back in the day I think folks stumbled onto the recipe for soap.
Ash from the fire got mixed in with animal fats, plus the dirt. Ash plus animal fats = soap
Lots of great ideas are formed purely by accident. Happens to me now and then. I use spent coffee grounds to clean pot n pans often. They are abrasive enough to get stuck on food and seem to absorb grease and oil. If there is filter paper you got a something to wipe it all around with. Rinses right off too. Cheers!!
