The U.S. Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs on Wednesday morning unanimously passed legislation to reform how the Department of Veterans Affairs provides care to service members who face toxic exposure.
"Passage of the TEAM Act out of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee is a positive step to ensure that all veterans are given a fair and uniform process to receive the health care and benefits to which they are entitled following exposure to toxicants during their service, said Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), who sponsored the legislation, in a statement.

8 CAN20721 737 S.L.C. 1 (1) in paragraph (1), by adding at the end the 2 following new subparagraph:
3 (H)(i) Subject to paragraph (2), a veteran is eligible 4 for hospital care, medical services, and nursing home care 5 under subsection (a)(2)(F) for any illness if the veteran 6 was awarded any of the following:
7 (I) The Armed Forces Service Medal.
8 (II) The Afghanistan Campaign Medal.
9 (III) The Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal.
11 (IV) The Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal.
12 (V) The Iraq Campaign Medal.
13 (VI) The Southwest Asia Service Medal.
Double whammy for me. I was at Camp Lejeune and in Afghanistan.

I had to deal with REMFs a lot when I was on the gunboats in Nam. They were (and still are) pretty toxic. I should apply.
Thankfully, I never got to experience burn pits, but plenty of friends did in Iraq, Afghanistan, and earlier in Honduras in the mid-1980’s.
No doubt in my mind Mitch will push back. The price tag in dollars for this will start with a Capitol “T”.

April 2005, NTC, Fort Irwin on a mountain just west of Main Post. Went up there with my 2nd platoon on a conditioning trek.
Three weeks later we were in Kuwait prepping to move up into Iraq
