The history book I used in 1960s (different edition).
Looks terrific. Bookmarked for later.
Just what is needed. Should be required reading in public and private school curriculums.
Include passages from it for reading comprehension section assessments on standardized tests. That will ensure it gets read by high school students.
Article I Section 7: If any Bill shall not be returned by the President within ten Days (Sundays excepted) after it shall have been presented to him, the Same shall be a Law, in like Manner as if he had signed it, unless the Congress by their Adjournment prevent its Return, in which Case it shall not be a Law.Notice, Dear Reader, that this implies that all Sundays were national holidays.Altho Christians often speak of Sunday as the Sabbath, it is no such thing. That is Sundown Friday to Sundown Saturday, as any religious Jew would be quick to point out.
What Sunday is, tho, is the first day of the week - aka, in Christian parlance, the Lords day.
So you see, that offhand reference to Sunday marks the milieu of the framing of the Constitution as unselfconsciously Christian. It was the air they breathed.
