Climate change has spurred close to a doubling of natural disasters in the last 20 years, and world leaders are failing to prevent Earth from evolving into “an uninhabitable hell” for millions, the United Nations warned on Monday.
At least 7,348 major disasters had occurred between 2000 and 2019, claiming 1.23 million lives, affecting 4.2 billion people and costing the global economy some $2.97 trillion, the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction said in a new report entitled “The Human Cost of Disasters 2000-2019.”
According to the Geneva-based agency, the last two decades saw the number of disasters caused by extreme weather nearly double to 6,681, up from 3,656 between 1980 and 1999.
“We are wilfully destructive. That is the only conclusion one can come to, with action on climate change and other major threats waning,” said Mami Mizutori, the UN secretary-general’s special representative for disaster risk deduction. …

It does threaten millions...
Millions of dollars extorted from Member Nations and used to prop up failing Socialist programs they attempt to hide under the label of “climate change”...

They should pass a resolution banning volcanoes. STAT! Well as soon as they answer the following:
1. Define the “correct” temperature range for the planet.
2. Define the “correct” humidity range for the planet.
3. Define the “correct” mean sea level for the planet.
4. Define the “correct” amount of precipitation for the planet.
5. Define the “correct” makeup of the atmosphere.
6. Define the “correct” amount of sea ice at the N/S poles.
7. Define/explain past glaciation and subsequent warming without any input from humans.
Of course-it’s the next pandemic. Look what they did to freedoms related to covid to “save” lives. What will they do related to global warming since models say it will kill more people than covid; confiscate all cars, cut off all fossil fuels, limit our freedom of movement? I can see this coming a mile away.

1/5 of that was the 2004 earthquake/tsunami (225K-300K). 1/4 is the 2010 Haiti earthquake (316K). Other earthquakes, another 1/5 (200K+). Earthquake total 750K-825K, at least 60% of 1.23M.
All the rest and then some must be climate change.

previous 20 years, 1980-1999, ~150K.
The entire 20-year doubling in natural disaster deaths was due to 2 severe earthquakes. Nothing to do with climate.
BTW, automobiles kill 1.25 million globally EVERY YEAR, mostly pedestrians in the 3rd World.
