I watched hoping hed go off the rails. I foolishly didnt anticipate how hed get protected from tough or substantive questions.
I agree. I don’t know anybody under 40 at this point who watches the alphabet channels.
Have a feeling a lot of older people did. It is a demographic that Democrats have terrified with their talk of the virus. I see it in the elderly people I know.
I am sure Trump has addressed or will address the issue.
But let’s not lie. if Trump had blown biden away in viewership it would have been a very big thing here :-)
it’s also necessary to watch Biden on TV because he doesn’t talk at all after 10:00 a.m.. if you wanted to learn about him you had to watch.
Trump is going to win and all of this will be behind us
Reflects a universal interest in biden gaffes as likened to racetrack crashes.
I watched Tucker as many people did because he had fresh Biden email news. I watched excerpts of Trump’s Town hall on twitter. I haven’t seen much of the Samantha Gunthrie VS Trump debate and had no desire to. I did see most of the actual Trump townhall, the small portion of the show, in video excerpts.
In Phoenix, the DISH programming guide did not list Trump’s town hall a good part of the time. The problem with the program guide appeared to be deliberate. Early in the day, a program with Lester Holt was featured in the time slot. After noon, it was fixed to list the Trump town hall. But by the time came for the town hall some other standard NBC program had replaced it. So you weren’t going to be able to find it when the time slot actually arrived.
As was noted on the Timcast podcast, viewership was only for TV. Add in streaming services and Trump actually had more viewers in total.
Reality evades them again!!!
On the West Coast, the ABC town hall was broadcast live at 5:00 pm PDT, while the NBC town hall was delayed broadcast by NBC at 8:00 pm PDT. Many people did not wait to watch the NBC delayed broadcast and instead watched it on the Internet. As such, TV ratings are meaningless.
I find it interesting that both town halls had relatively low viewership. In fact, based on the numbers I saw, it seems Tucker had about the same number of TV viewers as the two town halls combined!
Did the ratings take into account that Trumps town hall ended after one hour, which would have allowed his viewers to switch channels and watch ABC?
In large parts of the country, it was not broadcast on NBC live, but on CNBC. Not only that, but the program guides for many, including dish and directv listed previously scheduled programs, so you couldnt find it in the guide. NBC broadcast the townhall later on tape delay, but few people are going to bother watching a recorded townhall when they can be fed highlights by the talking heads.
IF hotels, airports, hospitals, businesses etc were practically forced to show channels other than CNN, or the channel the biden TH was on that night- the ‘viewership’ for biden would not have been as high, and like bort said- many switched after TRump’s town hall to biden’s to see how he was being treated by the ‘moderator’- that accounts for a lot of viewers that they no doubt counted too-
Why do people go to the circus? To view abnormal. Simple to explain, normal is comparitively boring.
I heard that GOP were watching Joe’s townhall, not for information, but for entertainment value.
More Democrats watched Biden. What a surprise.
Crime shows always sell more popcorn.
The revelations from Hunter Biden’s laptop could have also affected ratings. Some people might have watched the Joe Biden townhall because they expected to hear questions, and Joe Biden’s responses, concerning Hunter’s shady business deals.
Both are getting plenty of attention. End of story.
Bidens town hall was 2 hours and Trumps town hall only one hour, IIRC.
A lot of Bidens number could easily be people who watched both.
Even though I strongly support Trump (understatement), I watched the Biden Town Hall on ABC. Since Biden has been hiding and almost invisible, this was a rare chance to watch him speak. I wanted to watch for signs of dementia and to watch him try to make his radical agenda sound plausible. It was so boring, I had to turn it off after about 30 minutes. I wonder how many other conservatives watched Biden for similar reasons. We all already know Trump’s agenda and accomplishments and have heard him many times. Most of us would not have expected to learn anything new by watching the Trump Town Hall.
