And my list is defective in that the obvious great ones that I found before starting the list aren’t on it, like Guardian - the version that obsessed me of the detective and professor. I’ll make it a point later today to try to make the list more sensible and add the other shows here. The description of food reminds me of Sleuth of the Ming Dynasty, one of my ABSOLUTE!!! favorites.

When I was stationed in South Korea in 1972, there was a very popular tv show called “Pabo (stupid)”. I would watch it with my Hap Ki Do instructors after class. I was only 18 so it was a bit of a cultural education.
What fun!
My only knowledge of Asian culture has come from ancient art history classes and a bit of political news. So watching these has been fascinating. Neither husband nor I expected the level of western culture influence. Not sure there exists any T shirts in asian dramas that aren’t in English.

First, I am not much into fantasy stories as I was when I devoured Sci Fi novels forty years ago. That’s said, I can appreciate the acting. However, with reading the description and only the music and visuals to go on, it is difficult to be sure who is the third party love interest with whom.
The Korean dramas are so well written, even the English subtitles are among the best English subtitles of foreign films and TV I have ever seen, that’s its easy to get hooked on them.
If you are interested I have some videos from the original Korean Masked Singer TV show (so much better than the new American version in my view). Great rock/pop music and even when the singer is singing in Korean (not always) I totally get and appreciate the often great talent being shown.
Korean talent, even in sports like golf, is, so much more than in the U.S., built with large private investment that helps young talent not get merely exposure, but training & practice, training and practice, training and practice on the way to becoming well known. Young Americans usually do not get recognized in a way that some backer gets behind them, unless their talent is already showing a lot. Koreans actually help build theirs.
My point is well understood by female American golfers. They never start out with the consistent outside support and financial backing that young Korean female golfers get. Consequentially, on a per capita basis, more young Korean female golfers are playing at the top of the sport than are American female golfers. The difference is not starting talent, but culture - what the culture does to help build the talent.
If I win the Lotto some time, I want to get behind some young talented Americans and give them the kind of support starting out that so many talented young Koreans have received; in the sport of golf, and in music.

Girl loves ex for the 10 years they’re separated. When cat joins her household, she’s still in love with ex. She misinterprets that the cat-boy is actually the stepbrother she’s never met, so that makes her comfortable living with the boy in her home. The ex lives across the street and keeps sneezing every time he meets the “stepbrother.” As the misinnterpretation of abandonment gets resolved, the ex gets closer to the girl and more uncomfortable with the cat-boy living with the girl. Once he discovers the cat-boy is a cat, he becomes REALLY uncomfortable with the situation and tells the cat-boy to leave. By this time, the girl has fallen for the uncomfortable situation that she’s in love with her stepbrother. Visiting home brings out the fact that the cat-boy is NOT her stepbrother but her cat! That takes a bit to digest. But the complication is that cats live short lives and this one is already over 10 years old. So the ex is pushing hard and the cat-boy is losing his future for the sake of the present by trying to stay human for her. Until he can’t. And then will the ex finally get the girl or will she wait out the remaining life of the cat?
Absolutely, point me to the Masked Singer. I’m hearing great music in many of the dramas but have done no following of any of the singers or groups. A lot of the dramas are about the training schools for entertainment and for sports. Very different and quite impressive.
Well, if you recommend it, I’ll give it a look.

And suggest you might want to investigate a little thing called Madoka Magica.
I looked it up. Like asian music, I’ve never gotten into anima, but I’m open to it. Recommendations are good.
I didn’t mention but the girl’s profession is as a story artist. While she’s still hooked on her ex, her story is about him. When she falls for the cat-boy, her story changes into one about a cat.
The “comic book” like story that hooked me was Elfquest.
I’ve done a lot of music videos to Julia Ecklar songs in that fandom.

Hey, my earlier comment was somewhat off the cuff. Trading one far eastern entertainment idea for another, but I will try to give it a look this weekend.
4/40 work schedules mean that my weeknights are (sadly) extremely short.
Anyway, I mentioned MM because it’s actually a very interesting take on an old piece of Western classic literature. As with many other entertainment styles, there’s a lot of dreck out there, but also some real gems, and some light/fun fluff. The problem (as always) is finding the gems.
If you would like to look, another I would recommend, I think is ‘Journey of Elaina’, it’s new and being broadcast right now, and gives me a real Jack Vance (author) vibe. That’s something you may or may not like.
Anyway, time to get on with what’s left of the evening, so I can get back to the grind tomorrow. It seems I’m going to get the joy of converting Ada to C++ (sorry, I’m sure you don’t want to hear that, but it it’s a paycheck...)
Wow. Haven’t heard Ada in a while. I was on the team that produced a competing language, Red. Jean Ichbiah won with his Green language, and we came in second. Quite a drama. I was also Time/Life’s consultant on programming languages and I gave them a lot of stories about Colonel Whitaker’s role in the early days.
Oh, I also created Ada Letters and brought the organization under the group I chaired, SIGPLAN.
